How to Prepare for Your PRF + Microneedling Appointment

1 Week Before

Stop blood-thinning supplements and medications if safe for you (fish oil, aspirin, ibuprofen, vitamin E, turmeric, etc). Always check with your doctor first.

No tanning beds or strong sun exposure.

Avoid chemical peels, waxing, or aggressive exfoliation.

3–5 Days Before

Skip retinol, glycolic acid, or other strong actives.

Avoid alcohol and limit caffeine to keep your skin hydrated.

Keep your skin moisturized.

The Day Before

Drink plenty of water. Hydration makes your blood draw and skin response better.

Wash your hair (you’ll want to keep the treated area clean and avoid washing your face with harsh products right after).

Get a good night’s sleep.

The Day Of Your Appointment

Arrive with a clean face. No makeup, lotions, sunscreen, or perfume.

Wear comfortable clothing with layers (our office runs chilly).

Have a small meal beforehand to avoid lightheadedness during the blood draw.

Photos will be taken before treatment.

Consents will be reviewed and signed.

Expect some redness and pinpoint bleeding during treatment—that’s normal.

You may have swelling, tightness, or dryness afterward.

Other Things to Know

Plan for some downtime: redness and swelling can last 1–3 days.

No intense workouts, saunas, pools, or hot tubs for 24–48 hours.

Sun protection is a must—your skin will be more sensitive.
